Kieran Giddons wins Young Claims Professional of the Year

Kieran Giddons (26) has been with Hiscox for nearly five years since qualifying from university with a Bsc in Economics. In that time, he has made a huge contribution towards establishing Hiscox London Market’s claims team as the best performing claims team in the market in the Gracechurch Survey 2015, and progressing the reputation of the wider London Market when it comes to claims.

Giddons, who specialises in property claims, has already led a number of projects that have had a direct impact on the quality of claims service Hiscox has provided to its insureds and brokers.

These include his development of a Binder Focused Catastrophe Plan to improve coordination and ultimately enhance Hiscox’s response speed and service quality to its end customers following a catastrophe. This plan is now part of the Hiscox London Market Claims procedural policy for its property claims division.

Giddons has also helped to drive the development of Hiscox London Market’s Claims Underwriting Guide, which articulates the Hiscox philosophy in regards to claims and also outlines technical procedural guidelines with regards to claims handling. He is also an active member of the Claims Service Working Group, which meets monthly to coordinate initiatives aimed at improving relations with brokers.

He has been specifically named in the past six consecutive quarters of the Gracechurch survey for individual claims team excellence, recognising his overall contribution to delivering a better claims service.

Not content with improving Hiscox's claims service, he is also currently studying part time for a Graduate Diploma in Law at BPP University Law School.

Tony Rai, Head of London Market Claims at Hiscox, says: “Kieran has played an active role in the further development of the claims function, ensuring our customers receive outstanding service when a claim arises. He is focused on the needs of our customers and brokers and was instrumental in developing our catastrophe plan for our delegated authorities. Kieran has had a big impact in the relatively short period he has been handling claims and continues to develop himself, which can be seen by the pressure he has put himself under in studying for a Graduate Diploma in Law while working full time.  He has a fantastic ‘can do’ attitude which is no doubt why he has been successful in delivering on the various projects he has been involved.”
