I graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2003 with a dual honours degree in French and Business Studies. I worked for a year as a loss adjuster for the subsidiary of an Anglo French law firm handling French speaking insurance claims within the UK. I realised that underwriting was of the most interest to me within the sector and joined Brit as a Casualty Underwriting Trainee in 2004. At Brit, I worked across several teams during my training but primarily in the Errors and Omissions space. I began initially writing UK business, then International (non-US) and then ultimately US business when I joined the US SME team. In 2007 I joined Max Re which eventually became part of the Markel Group. We wrote a book of predominantly excess big ticket US E&O risks using up to a $25m line. I joined Hiscox in 2014 as an E&O underwriter before becoming the Line Underwriter for the account in early 2017.
