Clients get an inside view at the Hiscox Client Academy
Ever wanted to get an inside view of Hiscox and the London insurance market? For a dozen clients from the US and Europe, this was exactly what they experienced after joining Hiscox London Market’s Marine, Energy and Specialty Client Academy.
Held in London from 7-9 September 2026, the Academy was a unique chance to gain valuable insight into the workings of Hiscox’s Marine, Energy and Specialty Division, as well as the wider London insurance market while, of course, taking part in plenty of networking and relationship building opportunities.
Packed timetable
The Academy featured a packed timetable of presentations and workshops including sessions on underwriting, claims, pricing, exposure management and reinsurance. One workshop also focused on clients’ priorities when looking at their renewals and how these priorities can change through the underwriting cycle.
Birds eye view
The Academy also provided an opportunity to enjoy a tour of Lloyd’s. In addition, delegates took part in an interactive exercise delivered by global strategic intelligence and security firm, Control Risks, who ran a live kidnap scenario with delegates: how would you respond if you received a phone call from kidnappers who had abducted a loved one or colleague? And just to prove insurance is not all work and no play, there was even some time squeezed in over the three days to do a little sightseeing with a ‘flight’ on the London Eye.
Questions answered
A Q&A session hosted by Hiscox London Market’s CEO, Kate Markham, wrapped up the Academy programme and featured a broad range of questions including the role of AI and what additional data insurers would find useful from their clients.
Providing real insight
Commenting following the conclusion of the Academy, Hiscox London Market’s Sasha Rimington-Light - Senior Cargo Underwriter, who chaired the organising committee for the three-day event, says: "The Marine, Energy and Specialty Client Academy is all about providing our clients with a real insight into both what we do within Hiscox in terms of key functions like underwriting, pricing, claims and exposure management, as well as the wider workings of the London insurance market. The aim is to help our clients better understand how we and the market work so, in turn, they can make the most of the opportunities available to effectively manage their risk.”
