Sharing expertise, building relationships: Hiscox hosts 2026 Property Coverholder Academy
Hiscox London Market’s Property Division recently welcomed coverholder partners from across the US and Canada to its 2026 Property Coverholder Academy; an educational and relationship building event designed to give delegates a deeper understanding of Hiscox, the London insurance market and the different teams and disciplines needed to support a successful insurer/coverholder partnership.
A deep dive into property
During a packed week in London, 13 delegates, representing 12coverholders took part in sessions including underwriting, pricing and claims through to portfolio management, digital distribution and reinsurance. Each session was designed to help coverholders gain valuable insight into every stage of the property insurance lifecycle, while demonstrating how teams across Hiscox work together to deliver successful outcomes for both coverholders and clients.
An underwriting challenge
A key feature of the Academy is how the learning throughout the week works towards a final underwriting challenge which saw delegates working in teams to review the performance of a property and flood binder, identify areas for improvement and opportunities for sustainable growth, and develop clear underwriting recommendations.
Relationships matter
It wasn’t all work, however, with the Academy equally focused on developing relationships and showcasing everything that London and the London Market have to offer. Alongside the technical programme, delegates enjoyed a series of networking events; creating the space to form stronger relationships with Hiscox colleagues, brokers and each other outside of the usual day-to-day trading environment.
Collaboration counts
Following the conclusion of this year’s Academy, Hiscox London Market’s Pia Boileau – Flood Underwriter, says: “This was my second year organising the Academy, working alongside my colleague Henry O’Meara to develop the programme, coordinate the speakers and activities, and manage the week from start to finish. The success of the event reflects the collaborative culture within Hiscox London Market Property and the importance we place on investing in our coverholder relationships."
Henry O’Meara – Associate Underwriter in the Middle Market Property team, adds: “What makes the Academy so valuable is the combination of technical learning and relationship building. Over the course of the week, delegates gain access to expertise from across the Hiscox London Market Property Division, apply that learning through the final presentation challenge, and establish relationships in a way that is simply not possible through day-to-day calls and meetings. It is a brilliant opportunity to showcase Hiscox, the London Market and the strength of the partnerships we are creating with our coverholders.”
