I am a Cargo Underwriter. My job history at Hiscox I joined in December 2020 when the previous team moved on. My role was to manage the renewal season and work with the new team members as they joined in 2021. I have worked in the industry for 38 years. Almost all of that time on the underwriting side. A short stint in claims. For at least 35 years I’ve been involved in underwriting Cargo business, both in Lloyd’s and the London company market. My role relates to writing marine cargo business and assisting in managing the account. Cargo is a diverse area and encompasses interests from Crude oil shipments to spacecraft at launch sites and shipments of wind turbine equipment, along with storage of every commodity. I currently Chair the Joint Cargo Committee and am its longest serving member. Also a member of the I.I.L M & E committee that provides educational lectures for the market. I have been able to present at the ICIC conference and at IUMI. I am also part of the team writing an I.I.L study book relating to the “insurance of revenue for projects under construction.”
In my free time, I play the guitar very badly. Spend a lot of time in the gym. I’m a qualified goalkeeping coach, coaching up to professional level. Whenever possible I enjoy spending time at the theatre and restaurants with my wife and watching Arsenal with my son.
