About Philip
I am Head of Underwriting Standards & Governance for Hiscox London Market. I lead a function that comprises our Delegated Authority, Privacy, Regulatory Governance, Underwriting Controls and Wordings teams. We play the dual role of protecting the business while also removing roadblocks to help business get written. My Hiscox journey started with a secondment in 2010 from the law firm I practised in as a claims litigator. One year later I later joined Hiscox and spent four years in the Group Compliance team before leaving to run Compliance at an international start-up insurance group. I returned to the Hiscox Group Compliance team in 2019 as Head of Syndicate & Bermuda Compliance and moved into my current role in November 2021. I have worked in the market for over 15 years in various roles including claims litigator, inhouse compliance, inhouse legal and now my current role. In my spare time I love Travel, Cinema and enjoying time with my children.
