What is Hiscox Secure?

Hiscox Secure helps protect families and businesses from a range of kidnap, extortion and related security threats. It is designed to help individuals, families and businesses prepare for, respond to and recover from security incidents wherever they live, work or travel.

How will Hiscox Secure benefit our customers and producers?

Hiscox Secure builds on our heritage in special risks insurance, providing enhanced protection, confidentiality and crisis response support backed by experienced underwriting and claims teams. Delivered within a discreet, well-tested policy framework, Hiscox Secure is designed to help clients stay protected when it matters most, offering the following benefits:

  • broader event definitions – coverage for more security incidents
  • higher limits – greater financial protection
  • clearer language – more certainty around coverage
  • continued access to world-class crisis response support when it matters most.

What new enhancements have you made to the Hiscox Secure policy wording?

The new policy wording provides broader protection across a wider range of real-world security incidents, while clarifying coverage for emerging threat methods and maintaining the discretion and expertise clients expect from Hiscox and Control Risks.

What new covers have been added?

We have expanded our coverage to reflect growing concerns around targeted harassment and family-related risks, providing access to expert crisis support and associated costs for situations where there was previously no cover. Two new risks have been added:

  • stalking
  • child abduction.

Cover limits have also increased significantly, giving clients greater financial resilience when navigating complex, fast-moving situations, such as in these key scenarios:

  • home invasion/hostage crisis
  • virtual kidnap
  • express kidnap
  • threat
  • disappearance.

How does the policy respond to modern threats like the use of AI?

Virtual kidnap coverage has been updated to expressly include the use of AI-generated voice, video and messaging, including deepfake-style communications. This clarification ensures the policy responds to modern inducement techniques where ransom demands are made in good faith, and reflects how these crimes are now carried out in practice.

What about criminal assault cover?

We have strengthened our criminal assault coverage to provide greater support following an incident, including broader protection for additional expenses, personal property, valuable individual items and cash losses.

What support will a client receive from policy inception?

Hiscox and Control Risks offer policyholders access to dedicated client service representatives as well as access to reports, newsletters, and webinars on the latest security trends. Throughout the policy period, clients can benefit from prevention training delivered by some of the most experienced security experts in the market.
